4
Committee Members were introduced and their reports circulated
5 The
timing of next year’s A.G.M. - Vera suggested to attract
a Action
wider audience that the A.G.M. is moved in 2008 and
becomes Vera Oates
part of another event. The suggested events were the Durham Festival
weekend or after an IST day. Vera has discussed this move with two of the
BWY Officers and it seems possible. The meeting felt that if A.G.M. was
part of the Festival it would reach the widest audience. A vote was taken
to move the A.G.M. to the Durham Festival - The motion was carried.
6 RTO
Report - Vera confirmed that the Northern Region Funds were in a
healthy state and that last year’s agreed decision to support members for
training/additional modules had begun. All decisions would be made on the
basis of financial need and members must be willing to share (in
confidence) personal financial details. Vera confirmed that she plans to
step down in 2008 and hopes a deputy will come forward to shadow during
her remaining time in office.

8 RTO
Report - Terri thanked Trish for her hard work as RTO. Terri
confirmed that there would be 6 IST days in 2008. The IST day for Durham
has been changed - Yoga for Pregnancy is postponed to 2009, instead Betina
Mitchell will be leading a day on 26 April about ‘Fascia-connection,
movement and creating space’, integrating theory into asana practice and
teaching. Two modules have been arranged (open to teachers and FC
members). There will also be a residential Teachers’ Retreat weekend for
personal development as well as numerous other events in the region. Some
of these events will qualify for CPD, (Continuous Professional
Development) which is equivalent to an IST days. The teaching of both
diploma courses and foundation courses remains very strong in the region,
with high quality courses on offer throughout the area. Vera thanked Terri
and Trish for all their efforts.
The
committee reports were accepted
9
Gifts and expressions of thanks were made to outgoing committee
members. Trish requested a donation to Teesdale and Weardale Mountain
Rescue and Heather Jones is to be sent flowers by post. Barry Garnett who
has been in office since 1996, filling a number of different roles, was
presented with a statue of Buddha and warmly applauded by the members
present.
