It’s Going To Be “Megha”
It’s going to be Megha for yoga
enthusiasts in the North this summer. World class teacher of yoga and
dance Nancy Buttenheim, whose spiritual name is Megha, will lead the way
at the North’s most popular yoga festival.
Megha, one of America’s top yoga icons, has been booked as the key
attraction at the weekend long Durham Yoga Festival organised by the
British Wheel of Yoga.
This year the theme of the event will be “Going with the Flow”.
Organisers are hoping Megha, will help teach everyone to dance with
life. She is known for her passion to help heal the earth through yoga,
dance and meditation plus helping people to tap into their own true
spirit.
Her yoga and movement style known as Danskinetics has been described as
“a prayer, a gift of harmony and healing to the Earth.” She is also a
holistic health teacher and trainer as well as being a singer and actor.
The Durham Yoga Festival 2008 will run from Friday July 4 until to
Sunday July 6. It is being held at a new venue this year, Ushaw
College and Conference Centre, an impressive building set in 30 acres of
beautiful countryside near Lanchester, four miles west of Durham. The
college, which since its opening has helped train Catholic Priests for
the North of England, is celebrating its 200th birthday this year. It
will be an idyllic setting for the festival offering a tranquil retreat
from the rush of everyday life.
Megha holds retreats throughout the USA and the world in her own
movement expression, Let Your Yoga Dance: Grace in Motion. She also
works at the Nosara Yoga Institute in Costa Rica. She has two CDs:
Moontides, a yoga, meditation and chanting CD, and Power and Grace,
co-led with Devarshi Steve Hartman. Megha’s Animal Songs album of
original songs is loved by both kids and big people alike. Her main
focus is on healing body, mind and spirit, as well as treading as
lightly as possible on the planet to bring healing to Mother Earth and
all the beings who dwell here. You can learn more about her at her
official website to be found at

About "Let Your Yoga Dance!"
The festival will also offer visitors a
chance to take part in a wide range of yoga classes taught by yoga
teachers from different paths. There will be something for everyone from
the beginner to the more experienced yoga practitioner. There will also
be a chance to book mini-taster sessions with alternative therapists and
a market place selling yoga related items including books, CDs, clothes
and equipment.
Vera Oates, regional officer for the BWY in the North said: “It’s quite
a coup for us to bring Megha over to the North of England for the
festival and we are all looking forward to the experience of working
with her.”
