This is a 75-hour course designed for those who already have a teaching certificate from other recognised organisations and who have been teaching for a minimum of three years. There are no courses being run in the region at the moment. Should you be interested in applying for the Integration Course, please contact the Regional Training Officer.
Teaching Practice Observation Tutors (TPOT)
Student teachers are required to undertake two Recorded Teaching Practices (RTPs) during their diploma course. These are designed to provide help and advice in practical teaching. BWY qualified teachers who hold a TPOT certificate are able to observe students for RTP1 and RTP2. This certified IST day is to train BWY Diploma holders and BWY accredited teachers, of one year standing or more, to observe an RTP in accordance with BWY guidelines.
The cost of Teaching Practice Observation 1 and 2 is £50 plus travel. If the student teaches the observers class, the fee is £25. Final class assessments can be carried out by any DCT. The cost of Final Class Assessment is £75 plus travel.
There is a list of tutors who have submitted their name to this website on the TPOT Tutors and FCAs page.
Other Courses
These courses are not run by BWY but are likely to be of interest. They are usually of short duration and may or may not be certificated. The First Aid Certificate is an example of these. Teachers must update their first aid training every 3 years. Read more »
